XENPAK MSA
The XENPAK MSA supports the proposed 802.3ae IEEE 10 Gigabit Ethernet
standard, and specifies a uniform form factor, size, connector type and
electrical pin-outs. The new standard will ease next-generation network
integration, while providing new levels of performance.
The MSA covers all four transceiver types defined in the proposed standard,
including 850 nanometers (nm) serial, 1310 nm serial, 1310 nm WWDM and 1550
nm serial. XENPAK transceivers are very compact, allowing eight devices to
be mounted on typical line cards, but do not compromise on the significant
thermal and EMI management requirements of 10 gigabit optical electronics.
Products based on the XENPAK MSA are expected to begin shipments this year.
